Yeats Societies & Foundations

There are a number of Yeats societies located around the world all connected to the Yeats Society Sligo, with the aim of networking and supporting the wider Yeats community. Many of the links below are useful to those interested in an academic study of W. B. Yeats and his family with conferences, lectures and presentations which many may find useful.

International Yeats Society

The International Yeats Society is an academic organisation which links national and other Yeats societies around the world. It aims to:

  • allow a wide range of academic researchers to share and present their work, in progress as well as in finished form;
  • make that work widely and easily available;
  • facilitate communication amongst scholars, teachers, and postgraduate students;
  • foster productive teams of researchers, especially across national borders;
  • advance awareness of Yeats studies in wider academic and public communities; and
  • promote the study of Yeats as well as Irish literature and culture, in a global context.

The Hungarian Yeats Society / Magyar Yeats Társaság

Is a non-profit organisation founded in January 2014, aiming to serve the needs of those interested in W.B. Yeats’s works, Irish literature and culture. Through our versatile activities we try to collect and connect – besides helping and organising Yeats-related academic research we create a community that shares the love for poetry, drama and music.

A Társaság elsődleges célja William Butler Yeats ír költő, író, drámaíró műveinek minél szélesebb körben való terjesztése és népszerűsítése Magyarországon egy olyan aktív, nyitott fórum keretein belül, amely szervezett módon fogja egybe a Yeats-hez kötődő tudományos munkát, valamint ápolja országunk és egyetemeink kapcsolatát a nemzetközi Yeats kutatás jeles képviselőivel. A Magyar Yeats Társaság 2014 januárja óta a Sligói Yeats Társasággal (Írország) együttműködésben, annak magyarországi szervezeteként működik, ezáltal is erősítve a Yeats Társaságok nemzetközi hálózatát.

Társaságunk változatos programjaival ezen kívül igyekszik olyan közösségteremtő találkozási hellyé válni, amely a költészet, dráma és zene segítségével kínálja kedvelőinek az ír irodalom és kultúra legjavát.
